Twyford Hall was filled with flowers for our Winter Show 2026, we received many accolades from visitors who were taken back by the variety and display. This year we had some of our Victorian members join us as well as a visitor from Eurobodalla Club which added to the day.
Grand Champion and Champion Australian Species or Hybrid was awarded to visitor Dave Norman for his Dendrobium Avril’s Gold ‘Pumpkin Pie’, a very eye catching entry with immaculate cream flowers very well displayed.
The Reserve Champion was presented by Keith Barrett , Cymbidium Ruby Valley ‘Claire’ , it’s very neat dark red flowers well arranged provided a challenge to the judges. This plant was also Champion Cymbidium 60 mm to 90 mm. Keith went on to claim Champion Cymbidium Under 60 mm with Cym. Warringah Winter ‘National Show’, Champion Laeliinae Alliance with Cattleya Mango Spice ‘Stone’ and Champion Vandaceous Orchid with a Phalaenopsis unknown, a cascading large white flower.
Brian Moore, one of our Victorian members, benched the Champion Cymbidium 90 mm and Over , Cym. Golden Embers’Golden Tee Pee. Kaye Bowles Claimed the Champion Cymbidium Seedling with her Cym. Parish Elf X Gateway to Gold and Joy and Greg Aitken presented the Champion Paphiopedilum, Paph. Hsinying Carros X Doya Impulse.
Our Eurobodalla visitor, David Norman benched the Champion Seedling Other Than a Cymbidium, Den. Ray’s Dream ‘Sunglow’.
Jeff Knox, well known for his Cymbidium Collection was awarded Champion Orchid Any Other Genera with his very large and impressive Cuitlauzina pulchella, this large plant was covered in small white flowers was also awarded Champion Specimen Orchid and Champion Exotic Species Orchid. Showing his versatility Jeff also presented to Champion fern or Foliage entry with an immaculate Calathea plant.
Novis Exhibitor Sue O’Brien was awarded Champion Novice for her Masdevallia Pixie Magic ‘Beenak’, the strong orange flower with its dark stripes was a stand out on the bench, looks like she will be saying good by to the novice bench!
The Overall Point Score winner was Jeff Knox in a very tight finish.
